Paid Mathematics and Physics Internship Programme

Interested in gaining some fantastic work experience?

This summer, we will be offering undergraduate students currently studying for their degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) related subject, the chance to take part in a four week Paid Mathematics and Physics Internship Programme.

Based at Haybridge High School and Sixth Form, successful applicants will have the opportunity to experience four weeks of school experience in an excellent secondary school, working alongside qualified Mathematics, Physics and Design Technology teachers. You will receive advice and guidance from our teaching staff, as well as our School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) team to help develop your communication and presentation skills. Whilst there is no obligation to sign up to teacher training, if you are interested in a career in teaching, you will be assigned a careers advisor who will support you in applying to train as a teacher.

By the end of the programme, you will have received an insight into what a fantastic job Mathematics and Physics teaching can be.

Programme Benefits

The Paid Mathematics and Physics Internship Programme will include:

  • £300 weekly payment over four weeks

  • Opportunities to observe a range of lessons and year groups in a secondary school in Mathematics, Design and Technology and Physics departments
  • Opportunities to observe pastoral departments
  • An introduction into Initial Teaching Training
  • Personalised Internship Experience Handbooks

Entry Requirements

Applicants must:

  • be currently studying for an Undergraduate Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) related subject
  • be interested in teaching or becoming a teacher
  • be available between the 7th of June and the 2nd of July

Applicants should:

  • be able to work well in a team
  • be willing to learn
  • be willing to adapt in a busy school environment
  • be intuitive

All successful applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check prior to the start of the programme.
